Hello and welcome to Sage and Zafraan! My name is Ayesha! Sage and Zafraan stemmed from one primary thing I was searching for: connection. I believe my attraction to creating my own soap company can be traced to my parents-both connoisseurs of fragrance in their own ways. Growing up, my father collected attars, all derived from a multitude of fragrant roots. Meanwhile, my mother grew her collection of a wide range of perfumes, all will wildly different notes.

I found myself encountering various scents as I went about my day that pulled me nearly out of my body to a time or person in my life. Whether it was a particular cologne scent that reminded me of my father, or a handful of jasmine flowers that smelled like my mother and grandmothers. My journey to take the leap with Sage and Zafraan was my search for hand soaps that had South Asian influences. Often times, we turn to food to find comfort and connection to people and our cultures. I think the power of a good scent can forge connections just as strong.

Everything about Sage and Zafraan is intentional. From the name, to the mission, to our products. My appreciation for the scent, flavor, and color of saffron also began with my parents, as I stood by them, learning the cuisine of my Hyderabadi heritage. Sage to me embodies the essence of nature and simplicity, symbolizing the calming, restorative qualities I focused on while creating soothing, natural products that nurture both body and mind.
